3 Lessons We Learned Going Back to the Office
by İsmail Arılık, Co-Founder / CEO
1. Efficiency is Hard to Measure
Although some measures of our productivity decreased slightly after returning to the office, as a team we felt this incredible uptick in energy. We realised that there is an intangible benefit to being together, that isn’t easily measurable in numbers.
Of course, we tried to recreate that feeling with daily meetings and monthly get-togethers during our remote working days, but there was always a suspicion that something was missing.
Top tip
Getting one of those old-timey card clocks will make the workplace more fun. Expect to hear things like “Back at the coalface today!”.

2. Turnover: a Fresh Perspective
Within our first month back in the office, we parted ways with part of our development team due to some disagreements. Stressed and anxious, we decided to turn this into something positive.
Right around that time, CoPilot was launched, and we immediately enrolled the team in prompt engineering training.
We were surprised to see how much more productive even junior engineers were using AI, and since then, we've been more productive and happy as a team. However, we didn’t lay anyone off; we’d rather find a new client than lay off an employee.

3. Cost Efficiency
Demand for commercial real estate is at an all-time low, meaning renting an open-plan office has never been more affordable.
What’s more, we've discovered that we can offer incredibly low-cost perks like a snack cabinet or free drinks. For every foosball table we purchase, we see an increase in employee satisfaction and productivity.
